New York Jets next coach odds: Rex Ryan favored newsthirst.

One jet left the hangar this season.

The New York Jets fired head coach Robert Saleh in October, making them the first NFL franchise to make a major move on the sideline this season.

Five weeks into the year, the Jets, who many picked to be Super Bowl contenders in 2024, sat at an underwhelming 2-3.

They owned wins over Tennessee and New England, and their losses came at the hands of San Francisco, Denver and Minnesota.

Now, 16 games in, they are 4-12, having earned just two wins since Saleh’s firing.

Aaron Rodgers & Co. have been receiving orders from a new head coach, in the form of former defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich, who has been serving as the interim head coach.

But will Ulbrich earn the full-time gig ahead of next season?

Let’s take a look at the odds for the Jets’ next head coach at DraftKings Sportsbook as of Dec. 31.

NEW YORK JETS NEXT HEAD COACH:

Rex Ryan (Former Jets HC): +300 (bet $10 to win $40 total)
Mike Vrabel (Former Titans HC): +350 (bet $10 to win $45 total)
Aaron Glenn (Lions DC): +400 (bet $10 to win $50 total)
Ron Rivera (Former Commanders HC): +450 (bet $10 to win $55 total)
Brian Flores (Vikings DC): +750 (bet $10 to win $85 total)
Ben Johnson (Lions OC): +1000 (bet $10 to win $110 total)

Atop the oddsboard is a blast from the past in Rex Ryan, who coached the Jets for six seasons, from 2009-2014.

He compiled a 46-50 overall record, but did lead New York to back-to-back AFC Championship Game appearances in his first two seasons.

He then spent two seasons as head coach of the Bills, in 2015 and 2016, where he went 15-16 overall.

Detroit’s Ben Johnson and former Titans coach Mike Vrabel were previously tied as the favorites to eventually take the Jets job. Johnson was arguably the hottest name on the coaching market this past offseason, alongside Jim Harbaugh, who landed with the Los Angeles Chargers.

However, while Vrabel is now in second, Johnson has dropped all the way to sixth on the board.

Vrabel served as head coach for the Titans for six seasons, from 2018-2023. In Tennessee, he put together four consecutive winning seasons before falling below .500 in his final two years.

He guided the Titans to the AFC title game in 2019.

Lastly, reports landed this week that former Panthers and Commanders head coach Ron Rivera will interview for the Jets job as well.

In his nine seasons in Carolina, he compiled a 76-63-1 overall record, leading the Panthers to an appearance in Super Bowl 50.

Rivera spent four seasons in Washington. He was 26-40-1 overall.
